Community Services

This course provides a general overview of the community and health services industry and prepares students for employment in the fastest growing workforce sector. Certificate II in Community Services is an introductory portable qualification that can lead onto further training in Individual Support, Early Childhood, Disability work, Ageing Support, Nursing and Community Services. Students will complete Certificate II it the end of one year. Partial completion of Certificate III at the end of second year.

Who should apply?

Students who are interested in further study in community based services that focus on the promotion of good health practices.  Students will learn about the community services sector and explore specific contexts of work; they will develop skills in communication, information provision and processing, administration support, networking and group support.

Possible job outcomes

This course prepares students for work or further study in areas such as child care, aged care, home and community care, alcohol, and other drugs work, disability work, social housing or mental health work.  With additional training and experience, future employment outcomes may include a community health worker, counsellor, out of hours carer, school support worker, case manager, aged care carer, disability carer, or mental health worker.  Pathways are also available into Allied health and Nursing.
